1. What is the difference between a Metered license and a Publicity license?
Both license types use the same pay-as-you-use billing model and share the same usage terms. The key difference is that a Publicity license includes a visitor discount: for every unique visitor you refer to aspose.com through your referral link in a given month, one credit is deducted from your total usage bill. A Metered license does not include this discount. If your application or website is capable of referring traffic to aspose.com, a Publicity license will reduce your monthly costs significantly.
2. How does the referral link work?
When you purchase a Publicity license, you can log in to the purchase portal and open your Publicity license order to generate your referral link. You can generate it by clicking the Get referral URL button in the Order Details section.
A dialog will appear where you can set up your referral link. By default, the referral link points to aspose.com, but you can edit it to point to any page within the aspose.com domain. You can embed this link anywhere — in your application, on your website, in your API documentation, or any other channel you choose. Aspose tracks every unique visitor who arrives at aspose.com through that link during the billing month, and deducts the corresponding number of credits from your usage total.
3. How does Aspose track visitors referred through my link?
Visitor tracking is done through your unique referral link. Aspose counts unique visitors per month, so only the first visit from each user within the same billing period is counted — multiple clicks from the same user do not increase your visitor credit. You can monitor your referred visitor count and referral savings by logging in to the purchase portal and opening your Publicity license order.
4. Does it matter where I place my referral link?
No. You are free to embed your referral link anywhere you choose — your website, application, API documentation, newsletters, blog posts, social media, or any other channel. The only requirement is that the link must be your unique Aspose referral link so that visits can be correctly attributed to your order.
5. Is my referral link tied to my account or to a specific order?
Your referral link is tied to a specific order, not to your account. Each Publicity license order has its own unique referral link containing your order ID. If you have multiple Publicity license orders, each one will have a separate referral link.
6. What happens if my referred visitors exceed my usage credits?
Your monthly charge will never go below the applicable flat rate for your license tier. If the number of referred visitors equals or exceeds your usage credits in a given month, you are billed only the flat rate minimum — you will not receive a refund or carry-over credits for any surplus visitors.
7. Can I use the same referral link across multiple websites or applications?
Yes. Your referral link is not restricted to a single domain or application. You can use it across as many channels as you like, and all referred visitors will be counted toward your monthly visitor discount regardless of which channel they came from.
